Tom Icon was born in a sleepy little town nestled high in the cool Rocky Mountains . He grew up in a rough and tumble mining community in the Great American South West. In high school he was an honor roll student and excelled in sports. He won seven state titles in football, wrestling and track, led his football team to a state championship, and was voted Athlete of the Year.

Upon graduation Icon enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was voted outstanding recruit and went on to become a Company Commander who trained incoming recruits. At the end of his active duty Tom asked for and received a local separation in Spain at the age of twenty-three. His unquenchable curiosity and demand for adventure was the starting point of an adventure filled odyssey that spanned four continents and twenty-seven countries. During his solo travels Icon was exposed to some of the most interesting cultures and greatest works of art in the world. This has created a profound and lasting impact that is reflected in his artwork and storytelling.

Tom Icon ran a successful business for ten years while attending Western New Mexico and earned his Bachelors of Science in Art with honors. Being the creative writer that he was, he met and charmed his dream girl who he has been married to for nearly thirty years. Tom went on to earn a teaching certificate from Texas Tech and has taught a number of subjects throughout Texas for ten years.

Tom Icon's interest in writing was sparked at an early age by his father who was a prolific story-teller with the ability to hold his listeners spellbound with his extraordinarily spirited tales. Tom writes in a griping style that both inspires and provokes as he shares an unapologetic view of reality in which an entangled cast of characters stand witness between the profoundest abysses of unspeakable heartbreak and the uppermost pinnacles of hope.

Icon has written and published three books of his four part series; The Good the Bad and the Noble , The Forbidden Ascent , and The Bowels of the Deep . Tom is presently adding the finishing touches to The Blood Atonement , the final book of the Izz of Zia Tetralogy.
